  1. The stereo type is that wife beating is allowed in the Quran.
The truth is that they can't have wife abuse because it will get them arrested or worse.

The reason I chose this stereo type is because I thought it would be interesting. I thought it would be a pretty cool thing to find the truth about it. Because it is abuse to females.

  2. Stereotype- Homosexual Muslims must be put to death
Truth- there is no truth in this stereotype, The Quran does not state that homosexuality is forbidden in the Islam religion.
Why we chose this stereotype- We strongly support gay rights.
How this changed our beliefs- We don’t really know much about the Islam religion, so we didn’t jump to conclusions about homosexuality in Islam. We didn’t really think about the homosexual people in that religion.

  3. The Quran states that God could have made all those on earth believe, thus asks who is man to enforce such a thing if God did not:

i thout this would be verry intresting because god was a great man but verry little visuil proof of god there are stories but no proof of a grave or ever even a god being

  4. Stereotype: Alcohol is forbidden in all forms.
Background: Some think that in Islam and The Quran the substance alcohol is forbidden completely in all forms, no matter the application or form.
Intoxicants are to be avoided according to The Quran.

The truth is, Muslims can still drink but should avoid getting intoxicated.
We chose this topic because we thought it was an interesting topic to research about.
First we thought Muslims were not able to drink alcohol but after research we learned that in fact they are allowed to drink but not get intoxicated.

  5. Alcohol is forbidden in all forms because it is said to be the drink of the devil that is said to cause harm to the human who drinks it or in other words the devils nectar.

Alcohol is not banned from Islam’s but being intoxicated is to be avoided

we chose this stereotype to see if Islam’s were allowed to drink because people say they are allowed well people from their religion.

We now know that they are allowed to drink and that it is ok for them to and they will not be killed for it or go to hell.

  6. The stereotype we chose was “women are confined to houses”
Women are not confined to houses the Quran gives an example of woman being allowed in the public even times of hostility. Women were also aloud to petition and interact with the prophecy. When men decide to propose to women it is not a sin to do it in public.
We chose this stereotype because we thought that it wasn’t fair for people to think that women belong inside when clearly we are just as capable as doing most things men do.

When Ms.Hundal came and talked to us we realized that Muslims are just regular people like us they just have different beliefs in religion.

  7. Martyrs will receive 72 VIRGINS in paradise
Unfortunately this is a misconception because it says nowhere in the Quran that this will happen but it is still the motivation of many suicide bombers and mass murderers and other psychopaths. When the suicide bombers blow them self’s up apparently it’s a gift because they get 72 virgins. Other people are just psychos and want to kill as many people as they can take the 72 virgins as a bonus
We chose we scrolled though and this was most the one we wanted to do the most because we heard about this with suicide bombers and stuff.
This has changed our beliefs about Islam’s because we used to think they were all terrorists.

  8. They are mostly known for their music. People think their music can only have some musical instruments. The truth is the Quran does not completely forbid music or singing. I chose this stereotype because there is a lot of people that there music doesn’t make sense but the truth is they have mostly to do with nature. This research changed my beliefs in Muslim’s because I didn’t really know what their music was about and wondered why they only used their voice.

  9. Multiple wives??? Sweet!

Some think that Muslim men can have multiple wives if they desire to and that Islam and The Quran promotes polygamy. The truth is that Muslim men can have up to four wives in time of war, because in times of war odds were that married men usually didn’t come back. Muslims can only marry multiple wives if the wife is widowed, so the male could take care of the children.
I choose this topic of stereotype because I have been wondering if this was true. And apparently it can happen but on certain terms.
This has changed my way of looking at Muslims, because I thought of them as people that had no rules and cause 9-11 now I know them as somewhat caring and sensitive in their own way.

  10. Brianna and Cassidy;
Our stereotype is: “Alcohol is forbidden in all forms”
The truth: Intoxicants are to be avoided, but alcohol is okay in the form of medicine and food products, it is okay to use it for good and not bad purposes. It is said to be a tool of the devil along with gambling, sacraments and games of chance. It is said that you have to avoid them to be more successful in life.
Why did we choose that stereotype?: We think that a good “rule” and it would help people in everyday life. Intoxicants poison the mind if not handled appropriately.
This research made us think they weren’t as strictly serious. We think this is a good choice.

  11. Islam is a religion.
A Muslim that is in the Islam: a person who surrenders or makes peace
The truth is many people do not realize that “Islam” is first and foremost a state of being not a title religion. Islam is an inclusive system that promotes beliefs and actions that are not exclusive to any specific group.
We chose this stereotype because we thought it would be interesting to find out the truth about this. There are many stereotypical concepts of the Muslims and Islam. The media is a big way to spread all this stereotypical-ness.
The research changed our beliefs into thinking that the Muslims that are in the Islam are actual people, and it’s not just some stereotypical way of being racist. That Muslims can have a different religion if they wanted. That the word “Islam” does not just set a title for Muslims.

  12. Stereotype: Muslim men can have as many wives as they wish.
Truth: Men may have as many as 4 wives, if at least 3 of them are widows with children. This has the possibility to help them with financial issues.
False: Men may not marry any 4 women they please. This stereotype has been often interpreted as: ‘Men are able to marry orphaned girls for money and pleasure’.
We chose this stereotype because we knew very little about it and were interested in the topic that borders on feminism.
This makes us believe that there is a bit more equality between men and women because this action can potentially help women in this culture.

  13. Jessica & Katy
we decided that we are going to write about forced marriges

Katy : I THINK that forced marriges are cruel, to women that want to get married in the future have kids.. and have a family . Also I think women shouldnt be forced to marriges that they wont want to be commited to.

Jessica: I THINK that forced marriges for women isnt fair at all.. because what if they have to marry a person they truly dont love.. like i belive that when you marry someone it is somebody your being commited to for the rest of your lives together.. and you want to spend the rest of your days with that person.. you shouldnt be forced to love someone you dont like. Marrige is for your one and only true love.. you marry that one person that means everything to you, you would do anything for them! :)

Ms. P Me and jessica have to finish questions 1 & 2 please

  14. Muslims are not allowed to keep dogs.
They aren’t allowed to keep dogs in Islam because they consider dogs as unclean. The only dogs that are allowed in Islam are trained hunting dogs, so they can eat the food they catch.
The truth is it isn’t really illegal to have dogs in Islam; most families have dogs but not all.
    Why we chose this stereotype
Because we love dogs and we don’t like people who hate them and don’t care about them. We also thought it was weird that they weren’t allowed to have them in Islam just because they were classified as not clean.

This changed our thoughts because; we think dogs are amazing and awesome
